House of fun!

Buying a new home doesn’t have to be a chore, as people discovered at an award winning developer’s fun day in the pretty mid-Devon village of Winkleigh.
Fun and laughter were the key as Redrow drafted in a clown to keep the children amused and invited adults to view its fabulous show home at Winkleigh Cross.
There was also a barbecue and a prize draw for a family of four to win a day out at Crealy Adventure Park, near Exeter.
Sandra Hughes, sales manager for Redrow, says: “Buying a new home is one of the biggest decisions a family can make - but that doesn’t mean it has to be hard work. We wanted to make it an enjoyable experience, so we helped to keep the children occupied so parents could take a tour of our fully furnished Ouse show home.
“We were lucky that the weather held out for us. It was just such an enjoyable day – and it was a fantastic way of helping buyers to get a feel for village life, and to imagine themselves settling down here in the beautiful Winkleigh countryside.”
Winkleigh Cross is a development of 51 two, three and four-bedroom homes. Current availability includes three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses and four-bedroom semi and detached homes, including some particularly spacious designs where the accommodation is spread over three floors.
The flexibility of this layout is demonstrated in the four-bedroom detached Ouse show home, where the usually redundant roof space has been converted to create two bedrooms. The master bedroom with en-suite and bedroom two and the family bathroom can be found on the middle floor.
Sandra adds: “This kind of layout is perfect for families as children can have the run of the top floor whilst parents enjoy relative peace and quiet on the middle floor. Or, for those without children or none living at home, the top floor rooms offer alternative use as an office, games room or maybe even a home gym.”
Current prices start at £239,995 for an Ouse, whilst the general price range is from £197,000 for a three-bedroom mid-terrace Fairwood to £299,995 for a large four-bedroom detached Walkham with detached double garage. A number of properties are available for quick occupation with ‘fast track incentives’ including carpets, curtains and turfed rear gardens.
In a traditional village setting surrounded by some spectacular countryside, Winkleigh Cross is still less than 15 miles from the towns of Crediton, Torrington and Okehampton, as well as Dartmoor National Park. The coast can be reached in just over an hour, and trains run regularly from Okehampton Railway station to Exeter and other main city links.
