It’s big, it’s brave and it’s bold … that’s the word from Anna Ryder Richardson, the TV interior designer who’s made Glasgow her adopted home, on Redrow’s new show apartment at Route1West, in Anniesland.
Speaking as she unveiled the two-bedroom property in Glasgow, Anna said: “It’s amazing, absolutely gorgeous. It’s big, spacious, modern but not too modern and Redrow has been brave with touches of colour. I love the red.”
Anna made the short journey to the launch party for Route1West from the West End home she shares with her husband and two small children in a special liveried taxi that can currently be seen cruising the streets of Glasgow promoting Redrow’s latest apartment scheme.
Having given the thumbs up to the styling of Redrow’s interior designers, she said: “I love the feeling of space. It is a very well thought out apartment, there’s plenty of room everywhere - even in the corridors which is unusual in any new development.
“My favourite part is the open plan lounge and dining room which is a very good size and I particularly like the fact that the kitchen is an integral part of this space but can also be separated off by a very contemporary set of sliding doors. It’s only a little thing but it’s a big thing too.
“There’s a bit of rebellion going on at the moment against being totally open plan and this is the best of both worlds – if you’ve cooked a great meal and want to settle down and relax, you can shut away the mess and not worry about it!”
Anna also loved Redrow’s use of a neutral backdrop of whites, ivory and taupe, with splashes of red as the accent colour to create impact.
“The red is just enough. A touch of red is very ‘now’ in interiors as well as the fashion world. It gives the property a very contemporary feel,” said former Changing Rooms designer Anna, who’s just finished filming the next series of Baby’s Room for Sky TV’s Discovery Home & Health channel.
Redrow’s new show apartment promotes a collection of circa 200 apartments and town houses off Anniesland Road, on the site of a former bus station.
Colin Crombie, operations director for Redrow Homes (Scotland), said: “This is the first scheme we have launched in the city of Glasgow and a development of this level and magnitude will allow us to appeal to a whole new market in Scotland.
“We’ve previously been known for a more traditional type of housing and this site will hopefully propel Redrow into new areas and help us to grow the business.”
Route1West is just a short distance from Glasgow’s thriving West End and its awesome mix of bars, cafes, restaurants, music venues, sport, shops and galleries.
The two and three-bedroom apartments offer the perfect base for professionals working in the city, first time buyers, people studying at the nearby Glasgow University or empty nesters looking to downsize to a secure environment. The town houses, meanwhile, offer spacious family sized accommodation close to the city centre.
Current prices for the two and three-bedroom apartments are from £173,500 to £213,000, while four-bedroom town houses are available from £325,000.
The fabulous new show apartment at Route1West is open seven days a week from 10am to 5.30pm. Call 0845 676 0517 for further information.
