We are well aware of the anxieties faced by parents finding new schools when looking to move. At Redrow we want to make moving into a new home as stress-free as possible, which is why we place our new homes near to schools for your convenience. Higham Chase is located incredibly conveniently when it comes to schools, with two primary establishments in Dodworth and two secondary schools in Barnsley close enough for your children to attend. You could have a choice of primary education from Keresforth primary School which is within one mile from the development and Dodworth St John The Baptist C Of E Primary Academy, which is less than a five minute walk from Higham Chase. This school only recently converted to academy status, but replaced a school that was judged to be outstanding by Ofsted at its last inspection visit. For older children, Horizon Community College was formed recently to amalgamate the best practice of two existing schools, and is just under two miles from our new homes. Whilst Darton College is just a short car or bus journey north of the development.

If you are looking for something to do with your free time in this area, again there are plenty of options. The highly regarded Silkstone Golf Club is only a good drive with a nine iron away from Higham Chase, giving you every excuse to sneak a round in before or after work. Barnsley is also renowned for its cricket and has been home to well-known names in the sport Dickie Bird, Geoffrey Boycott and Michael Parkinson. If you would rather watch sport than take part in it, Barnsley is home to its own professional football team, currently in the Sky Bet Championship and Sheffield Wednesday's club is also only a 15-20 minute drive from the development. If sport does not hold your interest, there is a multi-screen cinema on Eldon Street and a wide range of leisure facilities in Barnsley including bowling, music and entertainment at the Metrodome Leisure Complex.
