As a major tourist destination on the edge of the Peak District, Ashbourne has excellent leisure facilities for such a small town, including Ashbourne Leisure Centre and Ashbourne Golf Course. Ashbourne is home to the historic Royal Shrovetide football match, where half the town plays the other half under ancient riles, with goals 3miles apart. The town also hosts an annual Highland Gathering as well as a town show and Ashbourne Festival.
