TransportOkehampton lies close to the A30 trunk route, which now by-passes the town on a major dual carriageway. This links swiftly to Exeter, around 20miles away, and to Plymouth, via the A386, which is around 30miles away. Exeter is home to Exeter Airport, with flights across the UK and Europe, and you can also pick up the M5 here for all routes north and east.
Trains from Exeter reach Bristol in 1hr, London Paddington in as little as 2hrs 10mins and Birmingham in around 2½hours. Following the recent problems with the mainline from Exeter to Plymouth, where it was washed away at Dawlish, Network Rail are considering reinstating services via Okehampton as an alternative route, which would make the town even better connected.
