How we Styled The Highgate Show Home at Woodland's Nook

When it comes to styling a show home for a discerning family market, our five-bedroom Highgate at Woodland’s Nook, in Derbyshire is a real show stopper.

From its flowing and convivial open-plan kitchen, dining and family area, to its elegant lounge and luxurious master suite, it’s a substantial 3 storey home with an abundance of living space. Our show home has been styled as the ‘forever’ home of a family with two teenage children. The downstairs open plan rooms are designed as a real social hub where the family can enjoy spending time together.

There are also quieter spaces for relaxation such as the spacious lounge and the top floor media room, which has been created in place of bedroom four to show just how flexible the layout can be. In the expansive kitchen, we’ve created a welcoming country feel, but with a designer cutting edge that is sure to impress guests when they’re invited to share this fantastic entertaining space. Shaker style Kensington units in thyme by Moores convey real style and quality and we’ve completed the look with silestone worktops in white arabesque and wood effect plank floor tiles by Porcelenosa in misuri natural.

In the dining area, we’ve complemented a hand painted washed oak and white dining table and chairs with a traditional dresser, which stands out against the wall painted in Dulux setting stone. Practical as well as beautiful, this dresser makes a real statement and we’ve decorated with trailing plants and lavender. Similar pieces can be found at The Cotswold Company.

In the entrance hallway, we’re delighted to display designs by interior design students from Newcastle-under-Lyme College. Based on a natural and floral theme we think the artwork is fresh and creative and perfectly befitting of this stylish show home.

we’ve filled it with personal touches that really make a house a home.

We’ve opted for understated elegance in the Highgate’s lounge, painted in flax seed from the Dulux Heritage range with a linen textured feature wallpaper. A neutral colour scheme with an accent of soft purple is refined and classic, particularly when paired with dark wenge wood furniture. We’ve also incorpated milky glass and frosted accessories – a key interior trend for the autumn / winter season. The overall effect is a more ‘grown up’ room that effortlessly impresses as an entertaining space but, equally, is a place where everyone can unwind.

On the first floor is the Highgate’s sumptuous master suite, complete with dressing room and en-suite. This room is all about the luxury touches including a deep-buttoned, wenge wood framed headboard, crisp white bedlinen and opulent cushion and throw fabrics. We’ve completed the look with paint from the Dulux Heritage range in pumice brown, floor to ceiling curtains, an occasional chair, understated accessories and fresh florals.

The top floor media room is sure to be a hit with families, particularly those with older children, as it creates a separate and informal space for relaxation and fun. Whether it’s for a family movie night or a place the kids can spend time with their friends, we’ve filled it with personal touches that really make a house a home.
