With the Bank Holiday around the corner, we take a look at some great ways to keep the kids active over the long weekend.

Get in the garden

With the sun set to shine this weekend, where better to spend it than in the garden?

If you can get your hands on some seeds, May is the perfect time to start growing vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, kale and spinach.

Another option for the garden is getting the children involved in creating a new outdoor space. Together you could create some new area's to your garden like a sand pit or play area.

Move as a family

Working out and keeping fit as a family is a great way to get children to enjoy health and fitness. Make it fun by setting up a 'family olympics' day with lots of different events like kick up challenges and running races.

If you want to keep it simple, there are lots of different kids fitness channels on YouTube which you can all follow along to. Why not try some work outs from the nations favourite PE Teacher Joe Wicks on his YouTube Channel. If the children love nature, you could sign up to '30 Days Wild' with our partners The Wildlife Trusts to receive lots of ideas like exercising with nature and wildlife yoga!

Make a Bank Holiday blockbuster

If you're running out of activities to do with the kids, this could be perfect. Everyone can be a movie star with just their camera phone. Ask the children about their favourite movies and get them to come up with ideas.

They could even spend some time coming up with the script and storyboards before spending the rest of the day in and around the house filming. There is lots of free, easy to use software available to help edit their masterpieces.
