We may be basking in record high temperatures, but Redrow is turning down the heat to help pro skier Charlie Guest feel more at home for its latest show home opening.
Visitors who come along to meet Charlie, a World Cup alpine ski racer, will be greeted with a winter wonderland of ‘icicles’, snowy alpine trees and an ice cream station in the style of a ski chalet in Lowton on Saturday, July 30.
Charlie will be officially opening the new Canterbury show home at our Oakwood Fields development, with the subject based around winter sports, as part of our partnership with GB Snowsport.
Charlie will also be greeting visitors and hosting winter sports themed workout sessions for families, giving children the opportunity to practice ski stances and try on professional gear.
The new Canterbury show home has been designed with Charlie’s family story in the background, and incorporates a ‘nod’ to her ski obsessed family, which includes her sister Katie who is a para-alpine skier and also part of GB Snowsport.
“They had some awesome memories of growing up, with vintage wooden skis on their walls and ski maps everywhere,” said Alysha Alli, our interior designer.
“Essentially I gave a nod to this ski family subtly through various design techniques throughout this show home – one example is through gallery walls in the bedrooms and family spaces within the home. I do hope we have done Charlie proud.”
Charlie, who became the first British female to win an Alpine European cup in 2019, will be meeting visitors from 11am – 2pm.
The event is free to attend with free ice cream for all visitors from the ‘ski chalet’ station.
More than 100 properties will be built at Oakwood Fields, offering a mix of three and four-bedroom homes from our award-winning Heritage Collection. The new Canterbury show home featuring a ‘garden pod’ in the garden area will open alongside a Stratford show home.
To ensure we build an enviable community, we will create areas of green space throughout the development, with footpaths and cycle-paths to connect residents to open land to the North and East as well as playing fields to the South.
