The radio station, which broadcasts a range of programmes to listeners across Oldham, successfully applied for our Oldham Community Fund.
The fund was launched to mark the opening of our new development, Bishop Meadows in Cowlishaw, and donations totalling around £3,000 have been made to a number of local groups.
The 25-acre development will include more than 200 homes, along with five acres of green space and its own orchard.
“Oldham Community Radio 99.7fm is a community broadcasting group providing a community radio service 24 hours a day since March 2007,” said Ian Wolstenholme, director and community partnership manager at Oldham Community Radio.
“Thanks to Redrow, we will now be able to purchase an external antenna to boost the signal on our radio microphone, which is part of our outside broadcast equipment. This will significantly improve the signal strength and therefore provide a better experience for listeners.”
Sian Pitt, sales director at Redrow Lancashire, said: “Community is so very important, and we are very pleased to be able to support many good causes and groups that are active in Oldham.
“We hope this equipment will make a big difference to Ian and the rest of the volunteers at the radio station, and of course to its listeners.”
All the new homes at Bishop Meadows will hail from our Arts and Crafts inspired Heritage Collection, in a range of three to five-bedroom designs.
