In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, we’ve announced 10 new apprenticeships are available to students in the Midlands.
Those successful in securing a place on our apprenticeship scheme will work across the Midlands, including at Kensington Gates, a major new development in Worcestershire, and Midsummer Meadows in Warwick.
The tailored apprenticeships will allow students with a passion for construction to build their vocational skills and will focus on different aspects of house building, including bricklaying and carpentry.
The intake follows the success of our ongoing apprenticeship scheme, which has been running for over 15 years. The scheme, which saw our Midlands division take on five apprentices in 2021, gives students in the local area an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a career in housebuilding.
Among them is Harrison Littlechild, from the Midlands, who is currently in his second year as a bricklaying apprentice.
Harrison said: “I have always wanted to be in the property industry ever since i was young. As soon as I finished school, I applied for a bricklaying apprenticeship and was thrilled to be offered one.
“I went for a Redrow apprenticeship as I knew they were a premium housebuilder and thought it would be a great place to start my career while gaining valuable skills. I am so glad I did as they have given me all the tools I need to progress in a career in housebuilding.
“I enjoy each day, and I gain practical, hands-on experience, which is the best way to learn. I think the key to being a good apprentice is being enthusiastic and working hard.”
Another apprentice, Gemma Malkin, works at the Midlands head office in Tamworth as an admin apprentice.
Gemma added: “To be a good apprentice you need to be outgoing and willing to learn. I work with so many people within my role, and I need to be able to talk to everyone.
“At the moment, I am working in the customer services team. It is incredibly rewarding when I get to support customers and give them help if needed.”
Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director for Midlands, said: “We make a variety of opportunities available each year as part of our continuous commitment to delivering local apprenticeships, and this year, more than ever, we're delighted to be recruiting for 10 students to join our team. Apprenticeships allow motivated students to jump right into a career while acquiring hands-on experience and continuing their education.
“After completing their apprenticeships, most students choose to remain with Redrow and become specialists in their profession. It's wonderful to witness so many successes, such as Harrison and Gemma, who never cease to astound us with their hard work and determination. I'd advise any school leavers searching for a rewarding career to apply to our programme; we're very excited to welcome our next generation of Redrow apprentices.”
