What were you doing before becoming a Redrow apprentice?
I completed my A-levels.
What made you choose an apprenticeship?
I chose an apprenticeship so that I could get an extra qualification and get paid while I learn.
Why did you pick Redrow?
Because I have always had an interest in the housing industry.
Do you live locally?
I live in Tamworth.
What does your day-to-day role look like?
I essentially buy the material the site manager requests as well as other bits. It involves lots of forecasting and looking ahead. I also have to build good relationships with our suppliers, meaning communication skills are very important.
What do you enjoy the most about your role?
The people! I love speaking to new people and getting to know them better.
What are the key skills that an apprentice needs for your role?
You definitely need to have good communication skills and be friendly and approachable.
What are your goals in the construction industry?
I would like to progress within Redrow and become a senior buyer. Do you like your team? I absolutely love my team, I’ve made so many friends!
