Our Midlands division, which is currently building at Curborough Lakes, on Watery Lane, has donated more than £500 in total to Men’s Shed Lichfield and Curborough Community Centre as part of our Community Fund initiative.
The fund, which was launched earlier this year, provides local organisations with donations to help them thrive, with local causes encouraged to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.
Men’s Shed Lichfield is a welcoming place for local people to learn new skills, pursue interests and form new friendships. The charity offers a well-equipped workshop, for those in the community to use and spend time in to complete projects and reduce isolation.
Having moved to a new premises to be able to offer more workshop space, the donation will be used to ensure the new space is men’s shed ready.
Peter Hollis, Chairman and Trustee of Men’s Shed Lichfield, said: “Our Lichfield shed is a widely used community resource, and one that has brought many likeminded people in the area a sense of purpose and a new community. We're delighted to be moving into our new workshop space, and the generous donation from Redrow Midlands will allow us to ensure the space is complete, ready for more local people to discover and use it.”
Curborough Community Centre also received a share of the funding to help facilitate its ‘Place of Welcome’ sessions, which provides local people with a space to access peer support, connect with others, and access knowledge about local support services while enjoying a hot drink and taking part in arts and crafts.
The organisation was set up in a bid to decrease social isolation and loneliness in the community by providing a relaxed, social space for people to access new support networks.
Elaine Cartwright, sales director for our Midlands division, added: “We are delighted to be able to support both Men’s Shed Lichfield and Curborough Community Centre with our latest Community Fund donations. We are committed to building thriving communities within the local area, and are proud to support such wonderful organisations and their commitment to those living in Lichfield. We hope that our donations will help these groups continue to support others in the community to thrive.”
