It was a double celebration for commercial administrator Claire Sweetman when she marked two years at Redrow with the North West ‘employee of the year’ award.
Based at our regional offices in Daresbury, Cheshire, Claire’s role involves managing the administrative side of the commercial team, working alongside quantity surveyors and the commercial director.
The accolade was given for her willingness to help people, and for always going above and beyond in what she does. “Nothing is ever too much trouble”, said colleagues.
And for Claire, 45, from Hindley, near Wigan, it was a wonderful way of commemorating her second anniversary.
“On my first anniversary I learned I’d been recognised as employee of the month, and for my second I’ve got employee of the year. I’ll be aiming for even more on my third!” joked Claire, who worked in a solicitor’s office for 10 years - progressing from receptionist to office manager - before becoming a commercial administrator for other developers, and then joining our team.
Claire, who’s married to Leigh and has children Grant, 25; Lewis, 20, and Caitlin, 16, said: “I was surprised when I heard I’d won, overwhelmed even, but I’m very grateful and appreciative.
“To be honest, it’s just who I am. I do things that aren’t necessarily part of my job, dealing with IT issues, printers and new starters, because I want to help if I can, and it all makes for a better and happier workplace.
“Since I’ve been at Redrow I have really settled. Redrow looks after its staff and the work/life balance. There’s a good relationship within the whole team, and that’s key.”
Other awards presented among the North West division included Site Health & Safety Team of the Year, which was awarded to the construction team behind The Courtyard at Woodford Garden Village, near Stockport; and Site Customer Service Team of the Year, which was presented to Hartford Grange, in Hartford.
