We invited children from schools across Cheshire, closest to its garden village developments in Chester, Ledsham and Woodford, to design a Christmas card, with a few words, on the theme ‘what Christmas at home means to me’.
The competition winner Oliver, six, from Little Sutton CofE Primary School in Ellesmere Port won a Smyth’s Toys voucher for his winning design and a visit from Father Christmas and a selection box each for his fellow pupils.
Oliver’s winning design will also be used on the front cover of Redrow NW’s 2023 Christmas card.
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director for Redrow NW, said: “We had so many wonderful entries for this competition, and it was lovely to read what Christmas means to each of the entries.
“Oliver’s design shows the real meaning of Christmas; spending time with his mum and sister, watching films, helping to deliver cards and presents and remembering members of our family that aren’t with us anymore. Thank you for sharing it with us Oliver.”
Mrs Zoe Carciero, executive principal at Little Sutton CofE added: “Our children love any opportunity to get creative and this Christmas card competition organised by Redrow, really got them excited.
“There were lots of wonderful entries and the pictures drawn were lovely, but what was really heart-warming, was reading about what Christmas really means to the children.
“I was so proud of the way our children expressed their thoughts and feelings about this special time of year. When we got the news that Oliver had won, we were so excited to tell him…and there couldn’t have been a happier winner than him. Well done Oliver! All the children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and chocolatey treat from Father Christmas.”
Runner up Smyth Toys vouchers were also awarded to Sharaya from Overleigh Primary School in Chester, Rosie from Sutton Green primary School in Ellesmere Port, Scarlett from Lostock Hall Primary School in Poynton and Darcey from Queensgate Primary School in Stockport.
