Every year, Crewe charity Survive holds an exhibition to display pieces of artwork created by its clients, all of whom are survivors of childhood abuse. We provided a £500 community grant towards exhibition costs.
“The Survive arts exhibition has been running for 10 years,” said Peter Buckingham, chair of Survive.
“Making art is a way to express thoughts and feelings that can be confusing and upsetting. Images can communicate when words cannot be found. Every piece on display is created by a survivor of abuse of some form. The project allows abuse survivors to display their works of art to the general public. Thank you to Redrow for this donation, it is going to make a big difference to the exhibition and our charity.”
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director for our North West division, said: “The team at Survive do amazing work supporting survivors of abuse, so we were very happy to be able to provide this financial help to one of their most important projects. Our community grants are designed to support charities such as Survive, whose team are at the heart of local life and make a big difference to people’s lives.”
The donations were one of four community grants given to groups, charities or other good causes serving the area around our Kingsbourne development in Nantwich.
The community grants are in addition to our contributions outlined as part of the planning consent’s section 106 agreements, which total around £2.75million. This includes money for local primary education, highways improvements and public realm plus provision for Acton Village. Work is currently underway on our final phase at Kingsbourne.
Started in 2018, Kingsbourne will feature 324 homes in total and has been a popular destination for house hunters. The wider development will see over 1,000 properties built by a consortium of developers.
The open space, play areas, multi-use games area, new road and major infrastructure, alongside proposed commercial elements of the development, are all part of the consortium works.
Within the masterplan for Kingsbourne, there is also an allocation for a new school site and a new community / commercial hub, which will potentially include new shops and services, subject to planning.
