Zarach was started in 2017 in Leeds by deputy head teacher Bex Wilson and aims to support children and their families who are living in poverty.
Now the charity, which aims to give ‘Every Head a Bed’, has expanded into the North West and joined forces with Chelwood Food Bank Plus to offer its services to families in need in the Stockport area.
Zarach’s ‘Every Head a Bed’ project provides bed bundles to families in need, which includes a new bed, mattress, bedding, pyjamas, storybook and hygiene products.
“As a food bank, we have been providing food packages to those in need throughout Stockport since 2013,” said Linzie Hogan, general manager and Zarach’s hub lead in Stockport.
“Now we have partnered with Zarach to tackle bed poverty and provide bed bundles as well. Support from organisations such as Redrow ensures that we can continue to do that and offer support to families that need it. Thank you to the team at Redrow NW.”
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director for Redrow NW, said: “Having a bed to sleep in and food to eat so they can get a good night’s sleep should be a basic right of every child.
“As the cost-of-living crisis continues to have an impact, organisations like Zarach will undoubtedly find themselves more stretched than ever. We hope that the support that we can give will mean many more children and their families don’t have to suffer and live in poverty.”
