We contributed towards the cost of the sheltered storage at Overleigh St Mary’s CE Primary School via our Kings Moat Garden Village Community Fund.
Head teacher Emma Drew explained: “We try to encourage children to walk, cycle or scoot to school to help them stay fit and active, while also reducing traffic on the roads to help the environment and ease congestion. It helps build the children’s confidence and allows them to gain road safety skills, plus we’ve found they’re more alert if they’ve cycled or scooted in.
“The original bike storage was full on most days so some bikes and scooters were being parked in unsecured and uncovered areas. With Redrow’s help we’ve been able to install additional facilities so that children can store their wheels safely while they’re in lessons.”
The school, which is just a mile from Kings Moat Garden Village, was among 10 good causes to benefit from the voluntary £10,000 community fund.
Area sales manager Caroline Thompson-Jones said: “It’s fantastic to see so many children are travelling to and from school under their own steam rather than by car. Scooting or cycling is a great way to start the day and we were happy to be able to help provide the much-needed extra storage.”
We’re currently building and selling homes across two phases of Kings Moat Garden Village, off Wrexham Road, in Chester – Roman Green and Emperor Park – with four show homes open to view by appointment.
To put the wheels in motion for a move to a new home at Kings Moat Garden Village call Roman Green on 01244 439648 or Emperor Park on 01244 439647.
