Via the Woodford Community Fund, Redrow backed a Manchester based spiritual movement’s ‘Spreading Smiles’ campaign, which has provided food and basic necessities to the elderly, homeless, refugees and those most in need during the Covid pandemic.
We donated £1,000 to the Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (UK) Manchester Centre and the money was used towards special gift packs for the elderly who had been suffering from social exclusion due to Covid-19. The packs were delivered to a number of care homes locally including Hope Green Care Home in Adlington.
Centre trustee Sonal Mehta said: “Since April 2020 our movement has supported over 83 care homes, foodbanks and homeless organisations by raising donations and grants. Our research team is in touch with care homes, children’s homes, elderly residential units and those living in sheltered housing and foodbanks to monitor needs.
“We have also been cooking and serving 200 hot meals on a weekly basis to the elderly and vulnerable in and around Stockport. Redrow’s donation meant we could reach more of the elderly in the community at a time when they really needed to know that there were people there for them. We supplied around 250 residents with gift packs that contained personalised mugs and treats with handmade cards.”
Through the latest community fund linked to new homes being built at Woodford Garden Village, we’ve shared £10,000 between eight local groups.

Many residents were unable to see family members for months on end so initiatives like this one have been vital to ensuring this generation of society could remain as positive as possible.
