Beaulieu Village Primary School is located in the historic town of Beaulieu and takes part in weekly competitions with other schools in the New Forest area. The school’s young athletes currently compete in a mix of uniforms, resulting in a lack of cohesiveness as a team. The new kits, which will outfit over 100 children before the end of term, will help the teams feel a sense of community and belonging when competing against other schools.
Over the past five years, the school has championed the programme, helping more children who wouldn’t necessarily have access to sport to participate in competitions. The children compete in a range of sports from cricket to hockey, netball and athletics.
The donation comes as one of the biggest events of the Summer of Sport kicks off this weekend. Meanwhile recent research from ourselves has revealed that over half (52%) of parents think playing a team sport is one of the most beneficial activities for their child to do while only a third (33%) of children across the nation play team sports
Caroline Cunningham, Senior Teacher at Beaulieu Village Primary School, said: “Sports are vital for children, providing lessons in teamwork and responsibility while helping them to stay active. Other schools’ teams have come to competitions decked out in matching kits and we wanted to provide the same for our teams to help them build confidence."
“On behalf of everyone at Beaulieu Village Primary School including our pupils, I would like to thank Redrow for their generous donation. These new kits are not just uniforms, they are a tool for giving our teams a boost of team spirit.”
The donation was part of Redrow Southern Counties’ Community Fund which launched this year. The fund provides organisations, schools and groups at the heart of the community with donations to help them thrive. We have has also provided investment in the areas surrounding their developments including contributions toward education, healthcare, public transport and affordable housing.
Mark Vanson, Sales Director at Redrow Southern Counties, said: “Sport is a cornerstone of community, bringing people together and supporting mental and physical wellbeing. Across our developments we have designated open spaces for play to encourage children to get outside and promote a better way to live. We are delighted to be able to help Beaulieu Village Primary School support their young athletes and wish them the best of luck in their upcoming competitions!”
