The event marked our national ‘Please Play Here’ campaign, set up to encourage children to spend more time outdoors this summer.
Over 100 people attended the event at Granby Meadows with giant garden games, a bouncy castle, face painting, ice cream and hot dogs for all.
The new initiative comes as we uncovered that two thirds of parents in Yorkshire say their child plays outside for less time than their generation.
The nationwide campaign encouraging families to ‘Please Play Here’ and spend more time outdoors this summer has been headed by children’s psychologist and professor at Exeter University, Professor Helen Dodd, who is working with Redrow as an expert advisor and ‘head of Playmaking’ to help develop inspiring play friendly communities for residents across Yorkshire.
“The event was very well attended, I think Harrogate was the only place in Yorkshire that escaped the rain,” said Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire.
“We had lots of families join us for the day, with children getting their faces painted and running around on the inflatables. It was a great event, thanks to everyone who joined us.”
Since its launch in spring 2022, the 95-home Granby Meadows venture in Harrogate has been ‘bucking the trend’ with strong property sales.
