Last September, Redrow Yorkshire pledged to donate £150 towards Zarach’s ‘Every Head A Bed’ initiative for every new show home bedroom it opens.
Zarach, which was started in 2017 by deputy head teacher Bex Wilson and officially founded as a charity in 2018, aims to support children and their families who are living in poverty.
The charity provides bed bundles, including a bed, bedding, pyjamas and hygiene products, to families in need, aiming to give every head a bed.
Our second donation to Zarach comes after the launch of its latest development Whitehall Grange, in Leeds, which has two new show homes and new customer experience suite, totalling a donation of £1,650.
Alice Smart fundraising and engagement lead for Zarach, said: "We are committed to helping children affected by bed poverty. Our support helps ensure children living in poverty meet their basic needs, get a good night's sleep and have an equal opportunity at school.
“Thanks to our partnerships with organisations like Redrow, we have been able to deliver over 4,000 bed bundles to children without beds. This generous cheque from Redrow will help us to continue to support families in need and give every head a bed."
Steve Jackson, sales director for Redrow Yorkshire, said: “Zarach provides a much-needed service to children and families in Leeds, a service that we are more than happy to support and continue to support.
“The Zarach team have delivered 4,000 bed bundles to children affected by bed poverty since May 2021 with a total value of £60,000. We’re very proud that Redrow Yorkshire has helped to fund 10% of those costs.
“We have committed to an ongoing collaboration and our next donation will be £2,400 following the opening of our show homes at Poppy Fields in Bramley in June.
“We hope our donations will make a difference to the families they are helping.”
Every new home purchased in Redrow Yorkshire will also receive a copy of Zarach’s bedtime book entitled Zed Ted.
Redrow will be launching several show home complexes in Yorkshire over the coming year. It is hoped these proposed developments will deliver more than 2,000 new homes across the region over the next five to six years; as well as further donations to the charity.
Located off Whitehall Road - Whitehall Grange, will feature 96 private sale homes and 18 affordable homes. The development is the ideal spot for anyone who wants the best of both worlds; being close to the bright lights of the city but having green space and woodland on the doorstep.
