The event, which also featured a family dog show, was held at Redrow Homes’ Ewloe headquarters and all the funds raised will go to the North Wales Lupus Group, one of the housebuilder’s chosen charities for this year.
As part of the housebuilder’s 40th anniversary year celebrations, employees are taking part in a year-long ‘charity challenge’. Each of the company’s 11 operational divisions across England and Wales, plus employees from its Group headquarters and sister company Harrow Estates, have selected one or more local charities to focus their fundraising efforts on for the year.
So far, the total raised by Redrow Group has exceeded £15,000 and with plenty of other activities planned, that figure is expected to be significantly higher by the end of the challenge.
The charity chosen by Redrow's head office employees is the North Wales Lupus Group, a regional member of LUPUS UK, the national charity supporting people with Lupus. It also assists them as they approach diagnosis of this, as yet, incurable immune system illness.
Chair of Lupus North Wales, Karen Newby said: “It was great to see so many people turn out for the event which has done a fabulous job in raising awareness for Lupus. We’re very grateful to Redrow for choosing us as one of its charities this year and a big thank you has to go to everyone who came and supported us on the day.”
Redrow Group has already hosted numerous fundraising events this year in aid of Lupus North Wales including clothes recycling, dress down days, monthly cake sales and a quiz night. Additionally, there have been monthly raffles and auctions with prizes, donated by Redrow’s suppliers, including a day’s charter on a luxury yacht for eight people.
