Redrow’s graduate programme is now in its fourth year. In 2014 the company will be taking on more talented university leavers in a drive to recruit promising young employees as demand for its homes continues to grow.
Perfect for those seeking a career in the construction industry, the scheme is an opportunity for candidates to put into practice the knowledge and understanding they have gleaned through their academic studies.
Successful applicants will get the opportunity to work across all of Redrow’s main disciplines and departments before choosing where and how to specialise.
Having previously focused on graduates seeking a career in land acquisition, planning, design, engineering and construction, as well as sales in 2014 Redrow will also launch a brand new scheme for those interested in HR, finance and IT roles.
A proven spring board for a long-term career at the company, five of last year’s participants on the graduate programme have now been promoted to managerial roles with three former graduate trainees now holding director level positions.
One graduate who has made the leap from trainee to manager is Leanne Allen, based at Redrow’s South Midlands division in Northampton. Leanne graduated with a geography degree from the University of Liverpool before going on to do an MA in planning at the University of Manchester. She completed Redrow’s Graduate Training Programme earlier this year and was subsequently appointed land manager.
Leanne, 25, said: “The training has hugely helped my professional development and will be beneficial to me throughout my future career, particularly now I’m in a management role. I found the graduate scheme hugely enjoyable, varied and interesting and I look forward to continuing my progression within this excellent company.”
Set to start in September next year, recruitment for the 15 month graduate training programme has already begun.
In the meantime, the additional HR, Finance and IT roles will be based at Redrow’s head office in Flintshire, as part of a new 24-month programme starting in January.
The scheme will give trainees the chance to work in a group role across several individual Redrow divisions, as well as offering appropriate training courses and professional qualifications.
Karen Jones, Group HR director at Redrow, explains: “Perfect for any recent university leaver, the scheme starting in January offers recruits the chance to work alongside senior directors.
“Trainees will undergo 24 months of training and will need plenty of commitment and ambition. This is a challenging programme but we hope one that will enable our graduates to excel and forge a long and successful career with Redrow.”
Recognised as one the housing industries best employers, the company has its own purpose-built national training centre in Staffordshire and committed more than 2,900 training days to staff last year.
