National housebuilder Redrow has been bringing safety to the fore at a series of summer roadshows.
In partnership with Brandon Hire, the developer has hosted special events for more than 130 senior contractors and employees at its housing sites as part of a wider campaign to raise awareness of health issues within the housebuilding industry.
Aimed at the managers and owners of contract firms, the roadshows kicked off with a presentation about the impact of working with construction dust and vibrating tools and showcased equipment to mitigate and monitor their potential effects on health.
Drop in sessions were then held throughout the day for all contractors employees to find out more about the equipment available and see it in action.
Dave Ford, Redrow’s Group health and safety director, said: “While the roadshows were designed to be interactive and engaging, with competitions and prizes to be won, most importantly they provided information to assist our contractors in fulfilling their duties as an employer and prevent any damage to staff members’ health and wellbeing.
“We received some fantastic feedback from the shows and attendees appreciated us talking to them. Already several have taken positive steps to improve control measures for their on-site activities.
“These events would not have been possible without the hard work of the Redrow Health and Safety Team, Dave Arscott of Brandon Hire and our contractors.”
Hire company Brandon Hire has been working with Redrow on the awareness raising mission, building on the active role it plays in supporting HSE occupational health objectives and regional Working Well Together campaigns across the country.
