A small step for the Callaghans a big move for the family

HAVING outgrown their previous family home, Claire and Jason Callaghan were keen to buy a new house in Chester with more space for their two children.

They didn’t have to look very far as they found the perfect home just around the corner.

“We lived in a shared ownership house which had three bedrooms, but one was a box room. So when we had our little girl Molly, now 2, we knew we would have to start looking for something else,” Claire, 37, an operations manager at a Chester business park, explained. “We were on the same estate but with another housebuilder and when we had a look at the Redrow homes, we could see the difference immediately.

“The specification is just amazing; the ceilings are higher, there’s the open plan layouts downstairs which are so family friendly, and the gardens are pretty generous too. Charlie, who’s 5, is really excited that he has loads of room to kick a ball about.”

The couple used Help to Buy, a government scheme aimed at help those who want to boost their deposit, so that helped the Callaghans buy a house better suited to their circumstances.

“The purchase went so smoothly. Jan and Simon in the office were great about letting us go and see the house, show our family around and measure up for things like curtains whilst we were waiting for our sale to go through too.” Claire added.

The whole family was also impressed with the level of service they received after they moved in.

“All of the members of the Redrow team we’ve dealt with have been fantastic; from Jan on site and the site manager to Emily in customer services. A member of the sales team met us on the day we moved in to hand over the keys, take meter readings and give us a welcome hamper - which the kids loved as there was teddy in there for each of them as well as chocolate and biscuits! It was a really lovely start.”

The Stratford-style four bedroom they now settling into at Regents Grange is well suited to family living.

“I love the kitchen,” Claire said. “It’s a perfect design for us, that open plan style, and we can get a settee in there too and use it as a social space. It’s also great for the kids as it’s on the same level as the garden, there’s no step, so you can throw the doors open and not be worried about them stumbling out into the garden. I can be in the kitchen and watch them running around.

“Another thing I really love about the Stratford is the staircase. It sounds odd but there’s a window that lets all the light flood in so it’s really bright and airy.”

What’s more, the location is ideal for them too, as Claire’s husband Jason, 32, works as a secondary school teacher in Helsby. “We knew we wanted to stay in Chester as we’re both happy with our work commutes and this whole estate is been designed so nicely, with lots of green space, so we were very attached to it and we’re thrilled we found somewhere in exactly the right place for us.”

Based in the highly desirable, and family friendly village of Huntington, the development is within close proximity to all the attractions of Chester city centre and the River Dee.
