Redrow Leads The Pack to Sponsor Inaugural Cycling Event

National housebuilder Redrow has agreed a deal to sponsor Bike Chester, a new cycling event for the city’s calendar.

The event will start at Chester Rugby Club on Saturday, June 25, 2016. Route options of 25, 50 or 80 miles provide distances for cyclists of all abilities and take in some of the spectacular scenery around Chester including crossing the border into the Welsh countryside.

Organiser Jayne Fishwick believes the event will appeal to all ages and abilities of cyclists and is particularly keen to attract female riders who may be new to the sport. She said: “We’ve designed the event so there is something for everyone with the 25 mile “family and commuter challenge” as an ideal distance for those new to cycling.”

The event is being championed by Redrow Homes, which is headquartered at Ewloe, Flintshire, and has a number of developments in and around Chester, some of which will be passed by cyclists along the routes.

Dave Bexon, Group sales and marketing director at Redrow, said: “We’re delighted to support the very first Bike Chester ride as lead sponsor. It is gearing up to be a fantastic event for people of all ages and abilities and will also raise money for a wonderful cause. Cycling is a great way to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, all while enjoying the scenic Cheshire and North Wales countryside and we will even be taking in some Redrow developments along the way! I’m very much looking forward to taking part in the ride as a member of the Redrow cycling team.”

Riders taking part will be able to enjoy feed-stations stocked with local produce to help fuel them on and, when arriving back at the Rugby Club event village, will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and post-ride food and drink. All participants receive a timing chip and finisher’s medal.

For those wanting to take on the cycling challenge and fundraise, Bike Chester have partnered with the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. They have places available for Bike Chester or alternatively, when you register for the event on the website, there is an option to donate to this charity or riders can choose their preferred charity of choice.

Registration for the event is now open and an early bird discount is available until April 30.
