Local residents, parents and children have turned out in force to mark the opening of a new play area in Bramhall.
Community members of all ages, along with MP for Cheadle Mary Robinson, visited Lumb Lane Park (Monday, May 1), where the new play equipment had been installed, thanks in part, to a £500 donation from Redrow Homes.
Entertainment on the day included a dog show and pony rides and a jazz band provided the musical back drop.
Redrow’s contribution comes from the Woodford community fund that the housebuilder set up last year. The Friends of Lumb Lane Park, is just one of the many local groups and organisations that will be benefitting from the scheme.
Chair of The Friends of Lumb Lane Park, Alejandra Solis said: “The park lies at the heart of a residential estate not far from Redrow’s Woodford Garden Village and the play equipment was previously in a really sorry state. The money donated has enabled us to replace the old equipment with equipment that is more modern, dynamic and challenging and much better meets the needs of local children. We now have a playground that caters for a wider range of children and supports their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.”
Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), added: “Redrow loves to get involved in the communities in which it builds and we have been particularly active in Woodford, inviting local groups to apply for Redrow funding last year.
“We were only too happy to donate to the Friends of Lumb Lane Park, as we are also about creating fabulous community spaces, and we’re thrilled that they now have such a fantastic facility.”
Based at the historic former aerodrome at Woodford, phase two of Redrow’s own new community, Lancaster Green at Woodford Garden Village, is well underway.
Woodford Garden Village is the first garden village of its kind in the region for decades and one that will provide a lifestyle unlike any other. It will eventually feature around 920 new homes and a host of brand new amenities including opportunities for sports and recreation. Sensitive to its idyllic rural location, the development will feature significant amounts of open spaces including traditional village greens.
Visitors can take a look around a show village of seven show homes to get a feel for the lifestyle on offer. The development features Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection which combines Arts and Crafts-style exteriors with high specification contemporary interiors. Prices currently start at £451,999.
