Buster and Buddy Encourage Children to 'Paws for Thought' Over Summer

Schoolchildren in Sandbach have been learning how to play safely this summer with the help of two special visitors from Redrow Homes.

Staff from Redrow, along with Buster Bear and his apprentice Buddy, the housebuilder’s health and safety mascots, visited children from St. John’s Primary School in Sandbach to help them learn about how to stay safe near construction sites.

The school’s 160 children, in two groups covering key stages one and two, had the opportunity to meet Buster and Buddy and were given a talk by Redrow’s group health and safety manager Charlotte Weston, along with James Cooper, assistant site manager at the housebuilder’s nearby Abbeyfields development.

Charlotte said: “The children were all keen to learn about health and safety and how to stay safe. It’s an important message all year round but with the summer holidays here and children playing outside more it’s a good time to get them thinking about it.

“As a company we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build so with our Abbeyfields development not far from St John’s, we were keen to take Buster and Buddy along. They were a big hit and really helped the children to engage in the message.”

Teaching assistant and eco coordinator Linda Elliot from St. John’s School said: “The children had a lovely time and it was a great way to finish the term. It was a really fun way to drive home important safety messages and the children were captivated. Some of the children were able to try on safety equipment too which they loved!”

In addition to the Buster and Buddy visit, Redrow has also donated £150 to St. John’s for a summer reading hut in support of the school’s 150th anniversary activities.

Redrow’s Abbeyfields development features a selection of four-bedroom homes from the housebuilder’s sought-after Heritage Collection, combining traditional Arts and Crafts era architectural design with modern, spacious interiors. Prices start from £314,995.
