Buster Encourages Children to 'Paws for Thought' Over Summer

Schoolchildren in Poynton have been learning how to play safely this summer with the help of a special visitor from Redrow Homes.

Staff from Redrow, along with Buster Bear, one of the housebuilder’s health and safety mascots, visited Lostock Hall Primary School to help the children learn about how to stay safe near construction sites.

The children had the opportunity to meet Buster in the morning assembly and were given a talk by Redrow’s group trainee health and safety manager Laura Catterall, along with Liam Sargeant and Rob McCann, assistant site manager and sales consultant respectively, from the housebuilder’s nearby Woodford Garden Village development.

Laura said: “The children were all keen to learn about health and safety and how to stay safe. It’s an important message all year round but with the summer holidays here and children playing outside more it’s a good time to get them thinking about it.

“As a company we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build so with our Woodford Garden Village development not far from Lostock Hall, we were keen to take Buster along. He was a big hit and really helped the children to engage in the message.”

Year 1 and 2 teacher Jenny Myers from Lostock Hall said: “All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the fun and informative assembly. Buster Bear was a big highlight and the children were all made aware of building site safety.”

Aniela Andrys, age 7, added: “I loved meeting Buster, he explained how to stay safe.” And Adam Ferneyhough, also 7, said: “I learnt never to play on building sites as they are dangerous.”

Based at the historic former aerodrome at Woodford, phase two of Redrow’s Lancaster Green at Woodford Garden Village, is well underway.
