Harbour Village is perfect for all the family

Family members are often the first people invited over the threshold of a new home, but Sheila and Andrew Tillotson were able to offer their grown-up children much more than a welcoming cup of tea.

Loving their own new home so much, they decided to help both their son and daughter become their neighbours.

Having all lived under the same roof in their previous property in Cleveleys, it was important to the Tillotsons to stay close together and they found that at Redrow's Harbour Village venture, there was a new home to suit all of them.

What’s more, all three sets of customers were able to utilise a variety of the initiatives on offer to make their moves even easier.

“It was my daughter Clare that got the ball rolling,” Sheila explained. “She’s 22 and a staff nurse. Both her and her brother John were living at home and she decided that it was time we started looking at other options. We all wanted our own space but wanted to stay nearby. Harbour Village ticked all the boxes for us.

“We found a buyer for our old property but then lost them, so we tried Redrow’s Mastermove scheme and got another buyer within a day of signing up.”

The Mastermove service utilises the skills of a local estate agent and online agent to market a customer’s existing property, all closely monitored and paid for by Redrow.  All it takes is a small deposit of £50, which will be refunded upon completion.

“Mastermove really helped us,” Sheila said. “In our case, there were three couples relying on the sale of our existing home going through and we were really keen to get moving.”

Support worker Sheila, 50, and central heating engineer Andrew, 48, plumped for a Letchworth three-bedroom home while Clare and John, and their respective partners each chose a three-storey, four-bedroom Kenilworth housetype.

“We loved the Letchworth,” Sheila explained. “The kitchen is lovely and the house is an ideal size for Andrew and me. The Kenilworths attracted Clare and John as they are perfect family homes. John and his partner Michelle have a baby and they found that they have all the space they need, and more, in the Kenilworth.”

John, 23, and Clare were both able to buy thanks to the Help to Buy scheme which allowed them to take out a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for five years. They then only needed a 75% mortgage and 5% deposit to purchase their new homes. Sheila and Andrew were happy to help their children out with the deposits.

Harbour Village currently features a range of properties including two and three-bedroom homes from Redrow’s traditionally styled Heritage Collection with prices from £136,995 to £169,995.

There is also a selection of more contemporary three and four-bedroom homes with stunning estuary views, balconies, large windows and a hint of nautical inspiration in their design. These three and four-bedroom homes are priced from £219,995 and a brand new showhome has recently opened.

The development is bounded by the Wyre Estuary and Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve, next to the marina and close to Freeport Fleetwood.  

“It’s a beautiful setting,” Sheila added. “We’ve got a lovely spot down by the green and when you stand there, you can see all of our family’s houses. It’s so peaceful and we’re all very happy here. The help we received from the sales consultant Carol Sokol was also invaluable. She was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us.”
