Phil Williams set his heart on a new Redrow home in Chester after the traditional designs triggered happy nostalgic memories of his childhood home.
While the quest for Phil and his family may have seemed elusive at one point, as they struggled to sell their home, the new homes at Regent’s Grange, Huntington, were released at exactly the right time for them.
“We were really keen on a Redrow home as we’d already been to see their show homes in Chester and Penymyndd and we really liked the style and the build quality,” Phil, 37, explained. “The Heritage Collection homes remind me of the 1930s-style home I grew up in so they had an immediate appeal.
“Having seen so many of the styles, and having lived previously in a new build that wasn’t built by Redrow, we knew exactly what we wanted. In our previous new build property in Ellesmere Port I could reach up and touch the ceiling but Redrow homes have much more space and higher ceilings. When we saw that new homes were being released in Chester, we were thrilled.”
Phil and his wife Stella have two young children, Amber, six, and Zachary, four. In his role as a business consultant, Phil often works from home so space to both work and play was important to all the family. The four-bedroom Windsor house type turned out to be the ideal choice for them.
“I use the fourth bedroom as an office,” Phil added. “Stella works in Chester so the location and size of the house has ticked all of our boxes. We’ve got the children into the local school and now everything is much more convenient,” he added.
Phil and Stella were also able to make the most of the government’s Help to Buy scheme which helps those without a substantial deposit.
The scheme, which provides a 20% equity loan, interest free for five years, can reduce the initial purchase price by tens of thousands of pounds and also allows the buyer to use a typical deposit of just 5%.
“The Help to Buy process was remarkably painless,” Phil added. “I’d carried out extensive research beforehand about the best mortgages out there and the advisers Redrow recommended were spot on and able to access the deals from our preferred lender.”
For those keen to follow in the Williams family’s footsteps and kick start a move to Regent’s Grange, there is a range of homes available with current prices starting from £266,500. More two, three and four-bedroom home are coming soon.
Boasting a highly desirable location in the sought-after village of Huntington, off Sandy Lane, Regent’s Grange is situated in close proximity to all the attractions of Chester city centre and the River Dee.
