Christmas gifts find a good home

Christmas came early for patients at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital when Redrow’s mascot Buster Bear paid a surprise visit.

Armed with presents and accompanied by Janine Edwards and Rebecca Hornbuckle from Redrow Homes (Lancashire) Buster helped spread some Christmas joy to youngsters on the oncology ward of the Liverpool hospital.

Gifts of toys and games were given to young patients during the visit.

Janine said: “It’s the second year we’ve visited Alder Hey with Buster Bear at Christmas and it’s great to see the children’s reactions when they see him – they’re all smiles despite being ill. It proves that there’s nothing better than a cuddle with a teddy when you’re unwell. We hope the gifts will help the children while away some of their time in hospital.”

Rachel Donohoe,  corporate & major giving officer at Alder Hey added: “It can be difficult being in hospital over the festive period, particularly for our younger patients. Those who are well enough will go home for Christmas Day itself but they are often likely to miss out on things like their school nativity, carol concerts and other celebrations at this time of year. Redrow and Buster Bear helped the children get into the Christmas spirit – they all enjoyed meeting Buster and the presents were an added treat.”

Wrapping up traditional exteriors and bright modern interiors, new Redrow homes at The Avenue at Summerhill Park are a gift to buyers.
