Garstang is blooming just a little more than usual with the help of a housebuilding company.
Redrow Homes has sponsored 10 planters in support of this summer’s Garstang in Bloom efforts, which can be seen dotted around the town to add a splash of extra colour for local residents and visitors to enjoy.
Getting into the spirit of the occasion, Redrow’s Canal View show homes at The Toppings in Garstang are also bedecked with colourful flowers thanks to the link-up, which is all aimed at making the town not only pretty, but a great place to live, work and visit.
Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) is delighted to help. She said: “A huge amount of effort goes into Garstang in Bloom every year so we were keen to do our bit in support.
“All the floral displays in the town look lovely and I am sure they will be greatly admired. We have already had lots of comments from potential buyers visiting our Canal View show homes who have appreciated the bright and cheerful welcome thanks to the two extra planters we paid for.”
Alan Pearson, chairman of Garstang in Bloom said: “Garstang in Bloom is about promoting local pride through the medium of horticulture, by involving all elements of the community.
“We are very grateful for this contribution from Redrow Homes which helps us to achieve that aim. All the floral barrels are a welcome addition to our displays around the town.”
Redrow has paid for the barrels and plants, while supermarket Aldi has covered the cost of compost, planting and contributed to the watering for the season.
Garstang has been competing in Britain in Bloom since 1987 and has won countless awards over the years for its impressive floral displays. The `Garstang Bloomers’ can be regularly seen tending to the plants and flowers, pruning, cleaning and litter picking on the streets to keep the town looking its best.
Canal View, which is providing quality new homes to also enhance the area, offers a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes and bungalows from Redrow’s popular Heritage Collection. Prices start from £139,995 through to £434,999 – less with the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, which can provide a 20% equity loan, interest free for five years. This reduces the initial outlay and means the customer can typically buy with a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage.
The development also features homes being sold at 80% of market value, in perpetuity, which can only be bought by people already living, working or with family in the rural parishes of Barnacre with Bonds, Garstang, Catterall, Kirkland or Nateby.
