He’s one of the few people who could actually shout the good news from his very own rooftops but Redrow’s Simon Nix is playing down his personal victory and taking it for the team!
The 49-year-old site manager of Redrow’s Hedgerows development in Clayton-Le-Woods has won a Seal of Excellence in the second stage of the NHBC’s Pride in the Job awards, which puts him in the country’s top 1% of his profession.
While some might take the glory all for themselves Simon, from Leyland, admits it is an incredible feeling - but he is quick to credit his colleagues too.
“It feels really good,” says Simon, who is married to Michelle with whom he has a son, Joshua. “But while I’m thrilled to get such a coveted award it is not just me who has won it. It means, first and foremost, that I have the support of the team, because you can't do it on your own.
“You strive to keep your site looking its best because it's all about first impressions. Every day I look at the site and think 'would I want to buy a house from here?' The answer always has to be ‘yes’.”
A site manager for 15 years, Simon has been at Redrow for six. At The Hedgerows it is his job to ensure the site is always kept tidy, that health and safety rules are strictly adhered to and that, by ensuring the workforce operates well as a team, the best possible homes are built, to the highest standard. All of which serves to reassure customers that they’ve made the right choice.
Surrounded by open countryside, yet within easy reach of both the popular market town of Leyland and the more extensive shopping and leisure facilities of Preston, The Hedgerows has a collection of three and four-bedroom homes, offering the best of both worlds.
There are currently three and four-bedroom houses available including the three-bedroom semi-detached Letchworth property from £204,995, and the four-bedroom Stratford detached home from £249,995.
The Letchworth enjoys a luxury rarely seen in other three-bedroom homes with a stylish en-suite to the master bedroom, and truly spacious living downstairs, with additional spaces like a laundry room and downstairs cloakroom to help streamline life for today’s modern family.
The Stratford boasts a large and airy kitchen and dining area, complemented by a lounge in which to relax and unwind, along with four generously-sized bedrooms, the master of which has a beautiful en-suite, and a luxurious family bathroom.
Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “We work as a team at Redrow and every member of our workforce strives to build the best homes possible. We take pride in what we do, and no-one displays that 100% commitment more than Simon who has won this incredible award.
“It is a brilliant achievement for him and excellent news for The Hedgerows’ customers, for whom the very best is assured.”
Buyers can benefit from Simon’s success more readily thanks to incentives like Help to Buy, the government’s 20% equity loan scheme, interest free for the first five years, which means buyers only have to find a 5% deposit and secure a 75% mortgage from a lender of choice.
“A smaller mortgage means lower monthly repayments in those crucial first few years,” Claire adds.
Those customers with an existing property to sell can use Redrow’s Mastermove service, which recruits the skills and experience of a local estate agent with Redrow either contributing to or paying in full the customer’s selling fees at the end of the day.
