New appointment drives Redrow towards its land goals for 2012

With a firm focus on growing its development portfolio in 2012, Redrow has appointed Victoria Murray as head of land and planning in the North West and North Wales.

Based at Redrow’s head office in Ewloe, Flintshire, Victoria, has been promoted from senior planning manager at Redrow Homes (NW) and will now have overall responsibility for project managing new sites from acquisition to planning approval.

Victoria said “My main aim is to help the business to grow by acquiring land in prime locations across the division, which encompasses Cheshire, Wirral, South Manchester and North East Wales. We want to continue to increase Redrow’s presence in the market so land buying and planning has a key role to play.“Redrow’s product is fantastic and that is certainly is a major asset when negotiating with land owners and planners.”

Victoria joined Redrow 18 months ago with a strong track record in planning for the house building industry. She graduated with a BA Hons degree in architecture from The University of Liverpool before studying for an MA in town and regional planning at Leeds University.After completing her studies she began her career as a graduate trainee with Persimmon Homes, before rising through the planning ranks with two other major housebuilders until joining Redrow in 2010.

Her promotion is further evidence of Redrow’s policy of promoting internally wherever possible and the company’s strong commitment to staff training and development; attributes which saw the company included in Building magazine’s 2011 Good Employer Guide, a list of the top 61 construction or construction related businesses to work for in the UK. Judges described career progression as one of Redrow’s “standout benefits”.

he new position sees Victoria heading up both the land and planning teams, with overall responsibility for identifying land opportunities, negotiating land purchases, liaising with external consultants, working alongside members of the technical team to engage communities in the consultation process and ultimately gaining planning permission for future developments.
