The votes are in, art students named 'Redrow's people's choice' winners

Two students from Trafford College have been crowned the ‘People’s Choice’ winners following an exhibition of their work in the new Redrow apartments in Altrincham.

For the past four months Redrow has displayed a selection of students’ photographs and canvases in the view apartment and lobby at Stamford Brook.

At the start of the exhibition, Redrow launched the ‘People’s Choice’ competition, so all visitors could vote for their favourite photograph and canvas. Redrow has now rewarded the two winners, art student Jess Hessian and photography student Matthew Williams (pictured), with £100 of Amazon vouchers each.

Anita Williams, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “It was a pleasure to host an exhibition of such wonderful work and our visitors have very much enjoyed seeing original art on display in the apartments.

“Trafford College is one of our nearest neighbours and we’re pleased we could play our part to help showcase the work of young local talent to the public. Dozens of people voted for their favourite pieces and we’d like to congratulate Jess and Matthew as our very deserved winners.”

Dawn Shields, head of creative arts and media at Trafford College, said: “This was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their work and skills to the general public. They were all very proud and excited to have their work on display, especially as they are nearing the end of their studies at Trafford College; it was a fitting celebration to their time here.”

The homes at Stamford Brook are built on land that once formed part of the National Trust’s Dunham Massey estate and, to complement this heritage, art and design and photography students from the Foundation and Level 3 Diploma courses were asked to create work that reflected nature and natural forms.

More than 50 pieces of art were created for the project, including black and white photographic prints and life drawings on painted canvases, and 28 were selected for the exhibition.

The Oaks at Stamford Brook is open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For details of the latest availability and pricing call 0161 4253367 or see
