Children play safe with help from Redrow

Children at Ormskirk Church of England Primary School built on their safety skills when Redrow’s health and safety mascot paid them a visit.

Buster Bear was joined at the school by Redrow’s health and safety manager Charlotte Weston

Charlotte explained: “To a child a building site can seem like fun and they could be tempted to play there without realising just how hazardous they are.  We’re building new homes just a short journey away from the school at Oakwood Park in Wigan Road and as good neighbours we wanted to ensure that the children stay safe. With that in mind, with the help of Buster Bear we gave them an important lesson in the health and safety issues surrounding construction sites. Hopefully it’s a lesson that will stay with them for life.”

During the visit, children from years one and two (five to seven-year-olds) were taught about the hazards on a building site. They were also told why it’s vital for staff and visitors to site to wear health and safety equipment and the children were able to try on items such as high visibility jackets and hard hats.

Deputy head Lorraine Brighouse commented: “We’re grateful to Redrow for giving the children such an important lesson in a fun and constructive way.  The children really enjoyed meeting Buster and trying on the safety gear.”

It’s safe to say that Redrow homes at Oakwood Park have been appealing to buyers. The development offers a good choice of three and four-bedroom properties that combine traditional exteriors with bright, modern interiors.
