Phoenix rises again to claim sixth award

Redrow is adding extra credit to its ‘Our Pride Your Joy’ slogan after the site manager at its Lytham venture scooped his sixth national quality award for a job well done.

Shaun Phoenix was one of 14 of the housebuilder’s site managers to be ranked among the top 3% in the UK by the National House Building Council (NHBC) in its annual Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ awards  scheme.

Shaun was working at the prestigious Lytham Quays venture when the awards were assessed but he’s now overseeing construction of 110 new homes at The Coppice in Banks, near Southport, where two showhomes have recently been launched.

Some 15,000 site managers were assessed by judges and Shaun will now compete with the other shortlisted candidates, for the prestigious ‘Seal of Excellence’ awards, which are reserved for only the top 1% and announced in the autumn.

Shaun, 37, who has worked for Redrow since he left school at 16, said: “A Pride in the Job award is the highest industry accolade a site manager can receive and follows a rigorous assessment process. I’m absolutely delighted to have been named in the top 3% again as the bar is raised higher every year and to know that our team is staying on top is fantastic.

“I’m hoping now that when it comes to the next stage of awards in October at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester, I’ll be able to take home the Seal of Excellence award too.”

Pride in the Job is the house-building industry’s most prestigious awards programme. It recognises the UK’s best site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site.

Judging includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of the site. Each site manager is assessed across 38 areas of site management including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

Another of the site managers who works for Redrow’s Lancashire division, Stuart Bullough, has also collected the same award for the high quality of work being demonstrated at Whitehill Meadows, near Blackpool.
