Redrow Brings Nature Nearer for South Ribble Primary Pupils

Pupils at a Chorley primary school are looking forward to getting close to nature after being presented with the latest homes for their friends-who-fly by housebuilder Redrow.

They may not have the latest appliances or a beautiful bathroom suite like Redrow’s own homes, but the collection of bat and bird boxes will help Clayton-le-Woods CE Primary School to launch its very own eco-group and look after the wildlife around them.

Head teacher Sue Pennington explained: “As a school we are very keen to start our own group, learning about and caring for the environment and the natural world around us. It is important that the children understand as much as possible and get involved in looking after it, and we have a new teacher starting next term who is really keen to nurture this.

“Our school is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and a whole host of creatures who live in it and, too often, we take it all for granted. With the bat and bird boxes, we will be bringing all of that even closer to us so we can appreciate it more than ever.”

And Sue added: “Getting outdoors and hands-on is a wonderful and exciting way for our children to learn and to flourish.

“The boxes are easy for the children to manage and it’s just something different - it will be great if anything comes to live in them and then we can discover more about who and what it is. The children will love them – so thank you Redrow.”

Altogether five bird boxes and five bat boxes were presented to the school by Mark Yates, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), whose development of three and four-bedroom new homes, The Hedgerows, is close to the Back Lane school.

Mark said: “It is lovely to see children getting outside and learning in such a wonderful way. Redrow is delighted to help them learn more about the natural world around them and add an element of excitement to their education.

“And, of course, many of the owners of our properties at The Hedgerows may well have children who attend the school, so it’s lovely to create beautiful homes for them too.”

The Hedgerows in Wigan Road is a collection of three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts-inspired Heritage Collection, which combines traditional Arts & Crafts inspired exteriors with modern and spacious interiors; ideal for families.

As well as the three and four-bedroom detached homes, there’s also a collection of three-bedroom terraced houses being sold at 80% of market value under Redrow’s ‘Advantage’ umbrella. Priced from only £126,000 these properties are reserved for first time buyers or those who don’t currently own a home, provided they have a household income less than £50,000 and it will be their sole residence.

Meanwhile, prices for the detached family homes currently start at £259,995 for a four-bedroom Stratford.

Perfectly placed, The Hedgerows is within easy reach of both the popular market town of Leyland and the more extensive and popular shopping and leisure facilities of Preston, as well as some beautiful green spaces including nearby Cuerden Valley Park.
