Redrow brings new meaning to 'Home Learning'

Warrington school pupils have been building on their construction industry knowledge thanks to housebuilder Redrow.

Design and technology students from Culcheth High were invited to Redrow’s Heritage Green development in Culcheth to find out more about careers within the construction trade and what the work entails.

Site manager Elliot Burns said: “It’s important to us that we work with the local community so I approached the school to see if they might be interested in a visit to learn about construction and see what we’ve achieved at Heritage Green. We’ve recently won a Pride in the Job Quality award from NHBC, our industry body, and we are really proud of the site so it’s great when we can show it off!

“We had two groups of 15 students from Year 8 visit on the day. We started with a walk through the constructed cul de sac and then we gave them a tour of the showhome and a look into an unfinished home. The visit ended with a brick laying demonstration which everyone enjoyed.”

Culcheth High’s design and technology teacher Jo Shaw added: “We are extremely grateful to all of the Redrow team who helped organise this educational and very interesting visit. Both the students and the staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves and everyone left Heritage Green extremely enthused about the construction trade.”

Redrow has one of the best track records within the new homes industry for employing apprentices, graduates and other young trainees, with around 15% of its workforce undergoing some kind of formal training programme.

The homes the Culcheth students got to see up close at Heritage Green comprise a range of four and five bedroom styles. They hail from Redrow’s Heritage Collection which marries traditional Arts and Crafts style exteriors with high quality contemporary interiors filled with top brand fixtures and fittings. Current prices start from £519,995.
