Redrow cooks up new pre-school kitchen

THE Hollies Pre-School in Poynton is looking forward to starting a new term in September with a brand new kitchen, after Redrow stepped in to lend a neighbourly hand.

The pre-school, on Hazelbadge Road in Poynton, was in urgent need of a new kitchen and approached the housebuilder for help, after hearing that a redundant show home kitchen might be available.

Debbie Moore-Grundy, manager of The Hollies, said: “We’d hoped that Redrow might have a spare kitchen from one of the show homes and so I made an approach. Our kitchen, where we prepare snacks for the children, was in desperate need of replacing and we needed to do it over the summer holidays. Redrow came to visit us to see how they could help and were only too happy to support us.

“They didn’t have a spare kitchen from the show home it transpired, but they went one better and supplied and installed a brand new ivory gloss one for us.

“We are extremely grateful for the donation of the kitchen and the speed at which it was installed too. Tony, Shane and the team were really efficient. The staff love it.”

Through a true team effort, Redrow’s site staff, led by area construction manager, Tony Gordon, provided and installed the brand new Symphony kitchen.

Tony Gordon, area construction manager for Redrow Homes (North West) said: “At Woodford Garden Village we are building a brand new community and we want to make sure we are also good neighbours to those around us.

“Thanks to Redrow’s community fund we have been able to help The Hollies with a new kitchen, and it’s been a great opportunity for our site team – in particular Shane Jones – to get involved in this transformation. We are sure it will make a big difference to the staff and little ones who spend their days there, some of whom may be future residents at Woodford Garden Village.”

Redrow is transforming the former site of the historic Woodford Aerodrome into the first garden village of its kind in the region for decades. The new village will eventually feature circa 1,000 homes in a number of different phases. Phase two, Lancaster Green, is now well underway.

There will be all the amenities of a village: a village green, sporting and recreation facilities, a school, onsite affordable homes, leisure and retail spaces, pub, public transport and even the existing heritage museum which houses a Vulcan bomber.

Close to the South Manchester/Cheshire border, Woodford Garden Village is within easy reach of Bramhall, Poynton and Cheshire’s golden triangle of Wilmslow, Prestbury and Alderley Edge.
