Redrow donates furniture to Widnes families

New furniture is sitting well with families in the Widnes and Runcorn areas after housebuilder Redrow donated a range of items to local children’s centres.

Sofas plus tables and chairs that were in the show home at the housebuilder’s Barrow’s Green development, in Widnes, are now in situ at the centres providing places for children to read, women to breastfeed or for staff to have a quiet place to chat to parents.

Maureen Ball, early help officer at Halton Brook & Halton Lodge Children's Centres in Runcorn, said: “We’re always on the lookout for various goods that local families in need can make the most of and we’re thrilled with the furniture that Redrow has donated to us.

“The majority of it has been used within the centres but we also have one very happy single dad who’s received a fabulous new table and chairs. We’re all incredibly grateful for Redrow’s contribution, it’s made a real difference to the community.”
Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), added: “The children’s centres in Halton aren’t far away from our Widnes developments so when we were approached about maybe donating some furniture from out show homes, we were only too happy to help.”

The centres are always looking for goods such as bedding, clothes and curtains, as well as larger items of furniture. Anyone who has anything they can donate can contact Maureen by emailing

Redrow is building at two developments in Widnes: Barrow’s Green, off Barrow’s Green Lane, where a four-bedroom Stratford home is currently available for £249,995 and at Lancaster Place, on Lunts Heath Road, where current prices range from £356,995 to £429,995 for a selection of larger four-bedroom detached executive homes.
