Redrow Shows It Cares for Claire House

Generous staff at housebuilder Redrow have raised £10,000 for their chosen charity, Claire House.

Group staff at Redrow’s St David’s Park head office in Ewloe, Flintshire, got behind a year-long fundraising effort in aid of Claire House, after selecting the Wirral-based children’s hospice as their chosen charity.

The hospice looks after seriously ill and terminally ill children across the North West and North Wales – where Redrow is based – as well as providing much needed support for their families.

Employees dressed down each week in return for donations, teams took part in bake offs and various raffles and auctions also helped to boost the sum to £8,000. This was then topped up to £10,000 by the company, which had made a pledge to add £1 for every £4 raised by staff during the year.

Alexis Stewart of Redrow said: “Every year the staff decide on our nominated charity and, in 2016, Claire House was a very popular choice as it’s a fantastic local charity looking after so many families and children, by providing specialist nursing care and emotional support.”

Staff are also still collecting any unwanted Christmas gifts or bric-a-brac donations from for one of the local Claire House Hospice shops.

A cheque for £10,000 was presented to Angella Rawsthorne, corporate fundraiser for Claire House, who said: “The money raised by Redrow will provide specialist nursing care and emotional support so the children who use Claire House Children’s Hospice can live life to the full however short their life may be.

“Claire House provides short breaks and emergency respite care as well as a range of services including hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and play and music therapies. Currently Claire House is not reaching half the children who could be getting our help Redrow’s generous donation will also help us achieve this.”
