The team, which was borne out of a community programme to encourage adults to take part in sport and improve their health and well-being, already has the Wigan Sports Development Unit’s Back to Sport programme on its side.
Now the players have also teamed up with housebuilder Redrow and received a £150 contribution towards their development.
Community sports development coach Stephen Dixon explains: “The aim of the Back to Sport programme is to encourage adults to participate in sport, which will hopefully increase their levels of fitness and reduce the risk of long term health problems. When a group of players from our Back to Netball session decided to form a team, Back to Sport were keen to support and contributed £200 towards their league fees. Scoring the support of Redrow will help the team continue to develop and we’re grateful to the company for its contribution.”
The Back to Netball Team trains from 7.30pm to 8.30pm every Tuesday at Robin Park, which is close to Redrow’s College Court development where there’s a winning choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “We’re delighted to be able to help give the team a boost as they embark on their first season in the Wigan and Leigh Netball League. We wish all of the players best of luck and hope they achieve their goals of keeping fit while having fun.”
Those who have made a new home their goal could find that Help to Buy makes it an opportunity too good to pass up. With the aid of an equity loan for up to 20% of the price, a two-bedroom apartment costing £99,995 could be snapped up for an initial outlay of £79,996. The equity loan is interest free for five years.
