The Chase for an energy efficient home

Being a stickler for all things green and economical, Emma McVey had her sights on a Redrow home for some time thanks, in part, to the housebuilder’s focus on energy efficiency.

Both her and her husband Robert wanted to move from their older property to a new build and eventually settled for The Chase in Walmer Bridge, near Preston.

Pleasantly surprised by how affordable and spacious the homes were, the couple plumped for a family four-bedroom home, the Stratford, and moved from their previous home in Walton Park.

“We loved the Stratford straight away as it’s a perfect size for a family,” Emma, 36, said. “We were really impressed by the size of the garden which gives us plenty of room to extend if we ever want to go down that route.

“Inside, there is a lot of storage, which was also a big draw as we have two girls, aged two and six, and we love the open plan kitchen / dining area as they can play at the table while we’re in the kitchen. But one of the main attractions was the fact that with a new home, we’d save money on our energy bills.”

Redrow homes are more energy efficient than older counterparts thanks to the use of high quality insulation materials, low energy boilers and ventilation systems, alongside good quality double glazing and improved air tightness. And, because lighting makes up 20% of the energy bill in an average house according to figures from the Energy Saving Trust, Redrow’s homes are all fitted with low energy light fittings.

“Because I’ve recently been a stay-at-home mum and have only just gone back to my teaching job, Redrow having all those energy efficient measures in place has made a real difference to our family finances,” Emma added.

For those also keen on potentially reducing their energy bills – or simply looking for a high quality new home - there are just two homes left at The Chase so would-be buyers are being urged to take a look before they miss out.

The homes for sale are the Stratford, like the McVeys’, for £234,995 and another four-bedroom option, the Oxford at £249,995. The Chase is located off Liverpool Road in Walmer Bridge, a popular residential area with a good range of local schools and facilities nearby including a supermarket and traditional country pub.
