Waseem is Set for Take-Off at Redrow's Abode Development in Lancaster

Waseem Barnes used to go through life with his head in the clouds – but the former cabin crew member has now got his feet firmly on the ground after landing a role as sales consultant with Redrow.

Waseem, 32, has taxied into Redrow’s Abode development at Riverside View, in Lancaster, where he’s hoping to see sales take off in his care.

He joined the award winning building company only six months ago, beginning his housing sales career at Redrow’s Sandy Lane development in Dawsons Lane, Buckshaw Village

His arrival at Abode coincides with the streetscene taking shape and Redrow is urging potential home owners to come and see the homes and meet newcomer Waseem.

“It is really exciting starting on a new site,” said Waseem. “It is very different going from selling the traditionally designed four and five-bedroom Heritage Collection homes at Sandy Lane, which are aimed very much at families, to the much more contemporary looking Abode properties. But I have been surprised at the wealth of people to whom these appeal.

“Because Abode is very modern and open plan, I had thought it would attract young couples which, indeed, it does. But all generations are falling in love with these homes, including older people who are looking to downsize.”

Riverside View, on the banks of the River Lune, was already home to Redrow's Heritage Collection homes boasting traditional Arts and Crafts inspired exteriors; before the more contemporary looking Abode range was added into the mix in October last year.

There are currently three-bedroom detached Abode homes available from £239,995.

Claire Jarvis, Redrow Homes (Lancashire) sales director, said: “The new Abode range perfectly complements the existing Heritage Collection properties and means buyers have a wider choice of homes to choose from.

“The Abode homes present an ‘uncluttered’ but smart façade, and feature wide open living spaces – virtually all of the ground floor is open plan – and in-vogue features such as wet rooms and underfloor heating. In several housetypes there is no family bathroom, instead every bedroom has its own wet room or en-suite.”

Banks of discreet storage units create faux walls and optional extras include outdoor kitchens and low maintenance artificial turf.

They are versatile and cater for busy people who like to entertain. “Young professionals and active downsizers who live a very sociable lifestyle will be equally at home,” added Claire.

Waseem who, with partner Nicholas, has a three-year-old daughter, Jennah, whom the couple adopted, said: “To come to such a beautiful development is amazing. The street scene is really coming along so people can now get a true feel of what it would be like to live here.

“We have got a fabulous fully furnished show home and I would really encourage people to come and have a look. People who may think a new home is out of their reach might be surprised at the options available to them.”

And he says, smiling: “Come along, have a browse and have a chat. I'm here to help...otherwise I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs!”
