WI gets insider tips on interior design from Redrow

Members of a Garstang Women’s Institute group have been finding out more about interior design thanks to a special event laid on by housebuilder Redrow.

The group of 21 women gathered at Canal View at The Toppings in Garstang to get the insider view from Redrow’s group interior designer Emma Brindley about how show homes are designed.

Members also received a special tour of the fully furnished four-bedroom show home at the development and, in true WI style, were able to indulge in afternoon tea.

Cabus WI’s president Eileen Smith said: “We all thoroughly enjoyed Emma’s talk and the tour of the show home, we’ve picked up so many good tips. One of our group headed straight off to buy some carpet with her newfound knowledge of interior design and another has passed on details of the development to her daughter. It was a very slick event and we’re really grateful to Redrow for holding it for us.

“The WI has been celebrating its centenary this year and although we are very proud of our traditions we also like to keep up with current trends so when Redrow offered us the opportunity to find out more about current interior design styles, we jumped at the chance. We loved the style of the show home and I’m sure we’ll all be implementing some of Emma’s tips very soon!”

Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “It was fabulous having the WI at Canal View and showing off our product, it was a very enjoyable event for all of us and we’re pleased we could help them with their design queries. This kind of event is something we’d be keen to do at other developments too if other WI groups are interested.”

The show home the group got to find out more about was the four-bedroom detached Canterbury, which hails from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts influenced Heritage Collection. Inside it boasts high specification fixtures and fittings and top brand appliances.

A range of three and four-bedroom homes is currently on sale at Canal View, with prices starting at £314,995.

For those who’d also like to find out more about the stylish homes available, the show home is currently open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays from 10am to 5.30pm. Alternatively, call 01995 238065 or visit for more information.
