Widnes development enjoys strong sales

With the number of UK first-time buyers at a six-year high, a stunning collection of homes is illustrating a strong demand for premium quality housing in Widnes.

Launched just over 18 months ago, Redrow’s Barrow’s Green venture has experienced a high level of interest from purchasers in recent months, with eight reservations taken at the development in just one month.

The traditionally styled two and three-bedroom residences are proving a hit with young professionals keen to take advantage of Barrow’s Green’s easy access to Liverpool, Runcorn and Warrington, while four-bedroom homes are attracting a number of families to the location.

All of the properties can be bought through the Government-backed Help to Buy initiative, which gives would-be homeowners the chance to buy with just a 5% deposit.

For example, a four-bedroom home at Barrow’s Green, priced at £231,955, could be purchased with a 5% deposit of just £12,000 through Help to Buy.

Purchasers could get a 20% equity loan, interest free for five years, and may then only need a 75% mortgage from the lender of their choice.

Economically, Widnes is a place that’s on the up with significant investment in recent times. There’s approval for a second Mersey crossing, a recently opened £40m Tesco Extra 24-hour store in the town as well as the New Widnes Shopping Park with Marks & Spencer, Boots, Next and a Costa Coffee amongst its stores.

The town has become an increasingly fashionable place for homebuyers in recent years, with another Redrow venture just a few miles away enjoying similar success. Lancaster Place shares some of the same highly-acclaimed New Heritage Collection designs as Barrow’s Green, with an added choice of some exclusive larger house designs, to complement the Redrow Homes portfolio on offer in Widnes.

Sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), Anita Williams said: “As property prices continue to rise throughout the UK and more first time buyers enter the market, this outstanding collection of superb family homes represents great value for homebuyers.

“Putting you right in the heart of the North-West, Widnes is a fantastic location for families and that explains in part this development’s runaway success.”
