Support for boxing club is knock-out success

A BOXING club is on to a winner after teaming up with Redrow.

City of Hull ABC’s kit appeal received a boost of £350 after Olympic torchbearer and club chairman Mike Gibbons loaned the developer his torch for an event at Fox’s Fold in Barton upon Humber.

It meant that those who missed the opportunity to see the torch when it travelled through Hull, Grimsby and Cleethorpes were able to be photographed with it.

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), commented: “Visitors to Fox’s Fold were delighted to be able to get up close to the torch and have their picture taken. They were also keen to find out more from Mike about his experience as a torchbearer and his work with the City of Hull ABC. Some were so inspired by his commitment to the community and work as a boxing coach that they too made donations towards the club’s new kit.”

Far more than just a boxing club, City of Hull ABC also runs a well women’s group, community cafe and kids’ club.

Mike said: “It was a pleasure to visit Fox’s Fold and to talk to people about carrying the torch and the work of the club. We need to raise £1,500 for new kits ahead of the new boxing season in October and the £350 donated by Redrow, plus the extra money donated by visitors, will kick-start that appeal.”

Two, three and four bedroom homes are available at Fox’s Fold priced from £104,999.

They boast a knock-out combination of traditional exteriors and bright, modern interiors designed for ease of living.
