The couple part exchanged their old three-bedroom property for a brand new four-bedroom detached home at Oaklands in Easingwold.
They were already familiar with the market town as they have friends in the area and often walked their Great Dane dog Blue in the surrounding countryside.
Andy explains: “The town has a really nice feel to it with lots of tea rooms and artisan shops. We thought it seemed liked a really nice place to live and because we wanted somewhere with nice views we immediately thought of Easingwold. We were delighted when we discovered Redrow were building here because it’s a lovely country town with good local amenities. When we looked at the plans we thought the homes seemed so pretty with a Georgian look to fit in with the area and we quickly decided to buy.”
With a house to sell, the couple feared they would miss out on their preferred property, a four-bedroom Harewood, which Karen describes as ‘cute’ and ‘cottage-like’ but with lots of space inside.
Fortunately they were quickly proved wrong, as part exchange made moving simple and straight forward.
“Our previous house had been on the market for seven or eight months but the offers we were getting were lower than we wanted. Part exchange made it really easy because we knew exactly what we were getting for the house we were moving from and there wasn’t a chain to hold things up,” Andy adds.
“Nanette the sales consultant was brilliant and turned something that could have been stressful into something fun. The customer service from Nanette and the site manager Richard has been faultless. We would definitely recommend Redrow.”
Located in York Road, Easingwold, Oaklands offers a choice of three and four-bedroom traditional looking homes with current prices from £258,950. A four-bedroom Harewood, similar to Andy and Karen’s is available from £297,950.
The Harewood features an inviting lounge to the front with a combined kitchen and dining room to the rear. A utility and cloakroom complete the ground floor; while upstairs the master bedroom benefits from an en-suite to complement the family bathroom.
Because Andy and Karen bought ‘off plan’ before their home was built they were able to customise it to their personal tastes, which meant they could not only choose the finish of the kitchen cabinets but they could have matching cupboards in the utility providing extra storage for things like Blue’s dog food.
